Privacy Policy

Plouton Consulting (Pty) Ltd(“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the AutoVital mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

AutoVital stores all data — including vehicle information, issues, photos, and notes — locally on your device. No data is transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.

2. VIN Decoder

When you use the VIN decoder feature, your vehicle’s VIN is sent directly to the NHTSA vPIC API (operated by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to retrieve vehicle specifications. This is a direct device-to-API request — we do not proxy, log, or store these requests.

3. Photos

Photos attached to issues are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to any external server or cloud service.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

AutoVital includes optional anonymous crash reporting via Apple MetricKit. This is an Apple system feature that collects performance and crash diagnostics through iOS — not through our code. It can be enabled or disabled in the app’s Settings. We do not receive personally identifiable information through MetricKit.

5. In-App Purchases

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Applethrough the App Store. We do not collect or store payment information. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external network request is the VIN decoder (see Section 2).

7. Children’s Privacy

AutoVital is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from children. Since no personal data is collected from any user, no special provisions are needed.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All data resides on your device. Deleting the app removes all associated data. We have no server-side data to retain or delete.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
